    About the role

    This role in the Entitlements Team will primarily focus on Weeklies – claims in receipt of weekly payments pre and post 130 weeks – represent the largest proportion of WorkSafe’s total liabilities.  

    The position will lead and be accountable for the overall performance of the Weeklies area, including the monitoring of, and improvements in, Agent capability and performance in the management of weekly claims across all accident years, including claims approaching 130 weeks.

    Responsibilities for this role include but not limited to:

    Technical Strategic Focus:

    • Develop strategic solutions to improve the management of weekly payment claims.
    • As the recognised industry expert in relation to weekly payment claims, provide detailed expert advice, training and education to meet stakeholders’ needs, including worker representatives and employers.

    Evaluation and Monitoring:

    • Evaluate and monitor the performance of Agents with respect to weekly payment management, including oversight of the application of the legislation relating to weekly payments during and post the second entitlement period. This includes providing advice relating to policy, procedures, and legislation.
    • Continually refine existing initiatives focusing on improving the quality of entitlement decisions relating to weekly payment claims. Identify potential risks to scheme liability targets, and recommend, develop and implement strategies to mitigate the risks.
    • Participate in all claims governance committees supporting the Manager, Entitlements as required to present on current industry trends and best practice in relation to the management of weekly payment claims.

    Novus Expertise:

    • Act as the Novus lead technical expert and champion for IS&S and Agents in the area of claims management and be responsible for the management and improvement of related workflows.

    Relationship Management:

    • Engage regularly with relevant Agent staff, including the Dispute Resolution, Technical and Legal Managers to achieve improvement in the quality of decisions and the effective communication of those decisions to injured workers and employers.
    • Maintain effective relationships with senior management at each WorkCover Agent to facilitate sustainable improvements in the quality of weekly payment claims management.

    Performance Management:

    • Lead, develop and actively manage the performance of the team members, and ensure the team has the appropriate level of skills and resources to meet its objectives.

    About you

    To be successful in this role and to hit the ground running, we are looking for experience in the following areas:

    • Strong and extensive knowledge and expertise in relation to the Accident Compensation Act (1985) and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (2013).
    • Extensive knowledge and application of ACCtion, NOVUS, Windows based applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Excellent interpersonal skills including empathy and respect, resilience to achieve in the face of obstacles, initiative and ability to work effectively with minimal direction and make own decisions.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff to achieve results.
    • History of working with internal and external stakeholders, through consultation, negotiation and influencing to drive shared outcomes.
    • Highly developed written and oral communication skills with experience in conducting presentations, facilitating discussion groups and/or training sessions.
    • Ability to undertake effective research and analysis and produce accurate reports and material
    • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement systems/procedures and proven project management skills and experience
